Student Blogging Guidlines

Having had time to consider the blogging guidlines from ISB I would like you to post your comments on what you think. What do you consider to be the most important of these and why? What do you think you need to be most careful about when blogging? Why do you think it is important to have these sorts of ‘guidlines’ when engaging with the bloggs or other forms of social media?

I think that the most important guideline to follow is a tough choice. If i could i would choose both ‘Think before you post’ and ‘Anytime you use media from another source, be sure to properly cite the creator of the original work’. I choose these two as thinking before we post is a very, VERY important rule to follow, take the girl who shouted at Adam Goods! I also chose ‘anytime you use media from another source, be sure to properly cite the creator of the original work’ as plagiarism is another very important rule to follow and people do it anyway. Some can even get a huge fine.

I think the most rule to be careful about is using correct spelling and grammar. Lots of people (like me) always use text language when typing. Although I always check my work, some people don’t!

I think it is important to have these guidelines when blogging so that others don’t abuse the use of this wonderful technology. It is amazing and we shouldn’t waste any of it.

Guidelines are significant to social networking sites because appropriate information is important. Any rude or inappropriate images in text or photographs can possibly be offending or discriminating to a person or persons. This is why guidelines or ground rules are set: To prevent images or texts that could be offensive, rude or insensible to be posted.

Blogging can be both taken in a positive or negative manner. But, we have to be careful about what we post and how people are going to interpret it. Text that may seem fine to you, can possibly be offensive or racial to other readers. This why we have to be careful about what we write and where we post it.

I think the most important guideline is ‘Think Before You Post’ because you can’t undo what you type. Once it’s out there, it’s staying there. I think you need to be careful about how you speak and what you say. What you say might not offend you but if could offend someone else who is reading it. I think it is important to have these guidelines because if we didn’t have them then people would be writing inappropriate things and people would get a bad impression about our school.

I would consider that what ever you post the whole world can see. Make sure you dubble check what ever you wright. I think there it is a good idea that there a guidelines because it helps people think what there going wright about and so they don’t regret what ever they wright.

    1. I think the most important thing that people should be most careful about when blogging is, what they are saying when they are commenting so that it would be appropriate and won’t offend anyone. 2. I believe it is important to have guidelines so that people would write appropriate comments to other people.

  6. Milan says:

i think that not sharing personal information is the most important ‘rule’ because people all around the world will know what you look like and i think its not important.

  7. NiamhC says:

I feel that these rules are really important because people may use the blog in an inappropriate way. I believe ‘thinking before you post’ is definitely the most important guideline. For the following reasons many people perceive posts in different ways and in writing you don’t know how the person means it. It could be a friendly joke but other people could take it in an offensive way. I think it is good that we can all have somewhere to share our ideas and views with other people. Not only with people in our class but with people from other schools as well.

  8. jessica says:

I think the most inportant rule is don’t share any personal infomation because people could find out where you live. You need to be careful about sharing things that you want people to see and for them to not be offended about what you say or said.I think the guidelines are good for you and the people you are typing to so they don’t get offended or sad.

  9. Bernie P says:

I think the most important guideline was to reread and think about what you are going to post and how it might affect other people.
I think people should be most careful about what they are posting or what they are commenting and what language we use.
I think these guidelines are important so that we make sure students are not free to post whatever they wont and are not free to hurt other users.

  10. Rachel says:

I think it is important to not be rude.

  11. luke says:

I think the most important is to check what you have wrote before pressing the send button Because when you hit send it will be around for the whole world forever.
When blogging i think the careful thing to do is watch your language and watch how you say it.
Guidelines are important because so people don’t get offended.

  12. Kerry says:

I think that the most important guide line from ISB is to think before we type because if we don’t, others could misunderstand it, and get hurt from what we have said. I also think that we need to remember, do you want others to speak you like that? I think we have to be careful about our spelling and grammar! I believe that we all need to follow guidlines for the reason that others may get hurt.

  13. alyssa says:

The most important rule is do not give your personal information if you post something personal like your home number or adress, someone might find out were you live and something bad might happen or they could post your information some where else. The thing most careful when blogging is to make sure you know who your blogging to and make sure you dont talk to someone you dont know who your talking to. The guidelines are important to have to make sure you know what your posting.
